Short Bio
Tell us about yourself?
My name's Chaye (Pronounced 'SHAY') and I'm a computer science student that is now going into masters year and made of 100% pure Welsh Greatness ;) I am also a long time Halo player (Halo 1-3 campaign/social customs kid) that stopped playing until about a third of the way into Halo 5, where I began my time as a competitive Halo player and have had the pleasure to compete with and against many great players.
What made you want to start competing in Halo?
When I was a kid, I would see Halo 2/3 matches on TV. From then on, I always wanted to go to compete, and eventually go to, and win a LAN event. Despite this, as an early teen, I was big into sports and so that kinda fell to the wayside. However, I began playing Halo 5 and that's when I came across someone in matchmaking 'BaLerionTheBD' AKA Ryan, who introduced me to something called community customs hosted by Onset. I'd just started playing so I didn't do too well, but that began fueling my passion for competing. Being able to compete against great players and the thrill from seeing your own improvement and when you win is addicting and gives such a rush. I began watching Pro league matches, events and that all fueled me to start properly competing, participating in scrims, and begin playing in tournaments.
Nations Cup
How does it feel to be representing a nation in a Halo tournament?
Exciting. Representing your home country in anything regardless of the scope, popularity or medium should instill a feeling of pride, excitement and responsibility.
Teams were announced on Twitter a week before the tournament. Do you feel your team has had adequate time to prepare?
Our team consists of some very experienced players along with others that have put a lot of time into Halo 5. A week is a short time, so I'm not sure we'll be able to do much practice, but I'm confident we're prepared and ready to dominate the competition.
What is the biggest challenge you see ahead of you in this tournament?
There are a few select countries with players that were professionals throughout Halo 5, those players of course have a lot of valuable experience, which will help them and their team to stay composed in the final rounds of the tournament.
Who are you most excited to play against and why?
There's a few teams I'm excited to play, but if I had to choose one in particular, it would be England 1. This is because first of all, there's the Welsh vs English rivalry going on, and to second that, the team has Jimbo, who is arguably the best/most consistent pro player in EU Halo. As a competitor, there's nothing better than playing the best of the best. You learn a lot, you get the rush of high level competition and, if you happen to win, there's no better feeling. If I could choose a second team, it would be England 2 for similar reasons. Great players and a cool group of lads.
Who on your team is grabbing the Sniper? Rockets?
Rockets will likely be Manatee or Flamez. I feel like they have the most experience in Halo of our team and thus should be able to use them effectively. Elite M4STER or myself for Sniper as I feel we're the more aggressive players.
Who is your playmaker?
This is a difficult one, as we're fortunate enough to have a pretty solid team so there's the possibility of it being anyone, depending on a few things like position at that time etc.
Final Slayer Game is tied 49-49, What is the play?
Depends on a few factors really, such as if there's a power weapon in play, who has it, which weapon is it, is there a power up coming etc. But in general, a 49-49 is about waiting for whichever team makes a mistake first and to capitalize on it, which is what we would be looking to do.
What would it mean to win the Nations Cup to you and your team?
It would be an incredible feeling. Not only competing and winning against some of the best players in Europe, but when doing so for your home country, that kinda thing will hit waaay different.

If HCS Pro Talk were to visit your home country, where is one place we’d have to eat?
Uplands Diner
What is one thing you need to have in Halo Infinite?
An amateur progression system. I've touched on this in the past, but there needs to be a clear means of progression and distinction between amateur, 'top amateur(semi-pro) and professional level players. A system similar to pro points, perhaps updated to modern standards would be excellent with some small-scale online tournaments to provide means of competition and improvement at the amateur and semi-pro levels.
