Spring 2021 introduced an interesting new format for Mega Construx’s assortment of Halo Infinite offerings - with a brand-new assortment of helmet sets aiming to encapsulate some of the best and greatest moments of Halo’s multiplayer sandbox at a $9.99 price-point.
Today we are going to take a look at the first set from this trio - the ‘Capture The Flag’ helmet set. This set introduces a Blue MK 6 helmet, two spartans, and a build of a flag stand with a couple of scenery elements.
The helmet itself is interesting as whilst Mega have introduced these in the past as a part of their Micro line, this helmet is much smaller – at what I would describe as a pocket-money size. You can see it is not massive when compared to Mega Construx figures – but still has a nice amount of detail packed into its sculpting, including vents and other small details.
The small build includes a place to display the included CTF flag piece, and also some shrubbery and a fusion coil. Whilst not much it is decent – and the inclusion of both Red and Blue translucent flags with UNSC prints is very welcome as traditionally we would only receive one flag per set.
The figures here are great – with a Spartan MK 6 in metallic Blue armour, and also a Spartan Trailblazer in metallic Red armour. Both the Trailblazer and the MK6 have nice additional paint applications on their helmets to really help some of the additional details pop.
It is worth noting the weapons here as one of them, the Shock Rifle, does come with a painted handle and fore-grip – adding nice detail. It’s also great to get another Assault Rifle.
Overall, the Capture The Flag helmet set is a fantastic pocket-money price item. The helmet is a nice piece and doubles as a nice container making this ideal for fans who want to build whilst they travel. Whilst the build is not my favourite in the assortment it is still decent – and does enough to add a couple of small elements for fans.
