The last of Mega Construx’s Spring Helmet sets is the ‘Last Spartan Standing’ set - which brings in the spooky with a fun Infection-themed set at the $9.99 price-point. This set includes a Spartan Commando, a Spartan Gungnir, a green Spartan MK 6 helmet which looks like Master Chief’s, and also a small build of scenery piece.
Let’s dive in and take a closer look at this set!
The helmet included in this set is sure to be the most popular – with the sage green helmet and the golden visor perfectly emulating Master Chief’s helmet in this unique scale. I could see this being placed on a nice plaque display piece to really emulate everyone’s favourite Spartan – so I am a big fan of this helmet design.
The small build here is arguably the least substantive – with a couple of foliage pieces and a small locker-style build. I like the inclusion of the grate piece for the locker front here, and the inclusion of the figure display rod on top of the helmet is a unique addition for this particular set – allowing you to pose the included Zombie in the air to simulate a leaping motion which is a nice touch.
The two figures included here bring a nice balance. The Spartan Commando comes in the gorgeous metallic green colour with some nice light brown contrasting colours. The Commando armour looks great in this colour. The Spartan Gungnir comes in a glow-in-the-dark lime green colour which perfectly captures the colours of the Spartan Zombies in game – and the silver highlights are a nice touch too.
No painted weapon details in this set – just a Bulldog Shotgun, and a nice version of the original energy mould sculpt in the sickly green colour Infected zombies carry.
As the final pack in this line this offers some unique characters and a unique concept and pairs really well with the other two helmets in the line. I love how each set has emulated a specific portion of Halo’s iconic sandbox and this set is no different – with some fun nods to a great game-mode. I hope Mega continue to experiment with more multiplayer sets in the future, too.
