The second of Mega Construx’s Spring Helmet sets is the ‘Skull Control Helmet’ - which aims to capture the Oddball game mode from Halo in a $9.99 package. This set includes a Spartan Anubis, a Spartan MK 7, a yellow and black Spartan MK 6 helmet, and also a small build of an Oddball skull objective.
Let’s dive in and take a closer look at this set!
The helmet is a nice variation on the blue one we look at in our last video – with the darker visor colour being the most interesting difference here. I really like the black and yellow ‘hazard’ tone that this colour combination creates.
The small build here is a station where the Oddball skull would be secured from, alongside a small railing piece. Whilst this build is incredibly small, it is probably my favourite build within this wave – with a fantastic piece used for the boundary ring in transparent yellow, and also a cool reuse of the skull piece – complete with a blue ring printed on the forehead. This little details really help to elevate this set.
The figures here are cool. The MK 7 features a unique chest piece and also has some really nice paintwork on its helmet – with lots of detail packed in. The Spartan Anubis, however, is probably my favourite figure in this set – with lots of detail packed in. The helmet in particular is gorgeous and has some really nice Sarah Palmer vibes to it which I really appreciate.
It’s worth noting the Needler in this set has some additional paint detailing for the needles – again, adding an extra layer of depth to this set. The inclusion of the turret here is also nice as we don’t get these very often.
Overall Skull Control is a strong addition to the helmet assortment – with some great figures, and some fun additional details to add extra value to what would otherwise be a relatively un-interesting build. If you’re a fan of Halo Multiplayer, pick up this pack.
