The Mercenary Combat Unit is an interesting addition to our Mega Construx Banished forces – coming in at $14.99 USD. This pack includes three micro action figures, three small builds and also a handful of accessories. As we write this, the pack has popped up in Canada but has not materialised elsewhere – although we are confident that it will pop up as a Dollar General exclusive in the near future.
This set includes just 101 pieces – and whilst the builds are not huge pieces, they do have some fun details packed in, and will certainly compliment any MOCs which people may have been creating.
Up first is the Plasma Turret, which includes a functional turret launcher. This piece was first introduced in the Shields Of Requiem Lance pack, and this piece looks fantastic in the darker red colour which we often associate with the Banished as a faction.
Another great piece included here is the Mercenary barricade – which is not too dis-similar to the barricade included within Turret Takedown, but with a couple of additional pieces. Elements like this are always useful for MOCs and displays.
Alongside this we also have a fantastic little build of a Forerunner structure. We used to see more of these elements in older Mega Bloks sets, so it is nice to see these items returning as a part of the Halo Infinite line-up.
Lastly are the figures – two of whom are repacks here. The Brute Warrior is the same Brute Warrior which can now be found in the Hijacked Ghost set, and the Jackal Freebooter is the same shade of red as the figure now found in Halo Micro Action Figures Series 13. The most unique figure here is the Elite Ultra in Crimson – introducing a fun version of this Elite which feels very ‘Banished’ in its tone and style.
Overall, the Mercenary Combat Unit is very similar to the UNSC Combat Unit – it doesn’t bring many ‘new’ items to the table, but has some unique elements which will compliment a lot of the other products currently available as a part of the Halo Infinite line-up.
