Short Bio
Tell us about yourself?
My name is Romain, I'm 28 years old and I live in Charleroi (Belgium). I work in the esport bar called SPAWN BAR CHARLEROI whose concept is: cocktails, parties, board games and video games. We have several PCs and consoles available free. Apart from our bar activities, we have a stream studio, a cast set and all the necessary equipment to produce quality shows around esport. I am an experienced streamer and manager of the AlgonKings esport structure which aims to develop amateur esport in Belgium.
What made you want to start competing in Halo?
I have been a fan of the Halo campaigns from the start and played Halo 5 multiplayer a lot after graduation. Following the first Halo 5 LAN in which I participated at the EGO Gaming House in Brussels in November 2015, I had the idea of forming a community of Belgians passionate about Halo, with whom we could meet for future tournaments. We spent a lot of evenings on the game in 2016 but also IRL (Paintball, Karting, etc…). It was with them that I started doing live and that I was spotted by the association Halo.fr. I was recruited at the end of 2016 by Halo.fr as a host to stream on their YouTube channel with 15k subscribers at the time. It is with them that I developed my art. I streamed over 100 streams on their channel: themed community nights, tournaments, marathons, etc ... I started to develop a taste for competition as Halo 5 got older. My content was turning more and more towards esports content. It was then that I decided to organize my first LAN in Brussels, where it all started. Following that, I took care of the esport section of Halo.fr for 1 year and organized a few tournaments for the FR community. I also collaborated with EuropaHalo for some French cast. I stopped my activities around Halo when I was engaged at SPAWN, 1 year ago, until the arrival of Infinite!
Nations Cup
How does it feel to be representing a nation in a Halo tournament?
It is a source of pride but also a responsibility. We represent a nation and I imagine that a lot of Belgian players would like to be in our place. I hope they will support us!
Teams were announced on Twitter a week before the tournament. Do you feel your team has had adequate time to prepare?
Unfortunately, we didn't have much time to prepare. The selected T4 has known each other for years and they have ranked onyx / champions together several times. Unfortunately, they haven't been playing Halo 5 for a while so resuming is difficult.
What is the biggest challenge you see ahead of you in this tournament?
We fell into a very difficult group of 3, but to win a tournament you have to beat the best. So we will do all we can to win. We have the advantage of coming together at the Spawn, with mixamps, a good connection, a coach and experienced players to guide the players in their match. But let's face it, it's a real challenge to beat 2 teams with pro players.
Who are you most excited to play against and why?
Jimbo, because I think we have a lot to learn from a player as talented as him. I don't know the other players as much even though I've heard that they are very strong. What excites us the most is meeting up with friends in a competition and having fun!
Who on your team is grabbing the Sniper? Rockets?
We don't really have a "Power Player". But I think The Bl4z3 or his brother R4ptozzz could do some carnage with the sniper if he took it.
Who is your playmaker?
I would say The Bl4z3, although we have Zabher, Trac and Tezla who will be behind to guide the team.
Final Slayer Game is tied 49-49, What is the play?
I would like them to delay as much as possible, even if it is difficult for them who have an aggressive style of play. Slayer is their strength.
What would it mean to win the Nations Cup to you and your team?
I can't imagine. If so, the team will continue to train for Infinite. There are really big European players out there so winning this cup would mean being part of it too.
