The UNSC Combat Unit is a fun pack valued at $14.99 USD – coming with three micro action figures, three small builds and some accessories. At the time of writing this review the pack has been found in Canada and nowhere else – although it is planned to be a Dollar General exclusive at some point in the future.
Starting with the builds, the set is only 104 pieces – and that means that the builds do not have much substance but are still nice scenery pieces.
Firstly is the UNSC Flag build – which includes a small terrain plate, a barrel and a UNSC Flag. There isn’t much to this build but I appreciate the inclusion of the nicely printed UNSC flag piece as it will be useful for MOC builders and UNSC base creators.
Following on from this we have a great build for a small UNSC concrete wall with Sandbags on top of it. This is a nice little build achieved with relatively minimal parts usage. This build is complimented by the turret build – which is a great reuse of the functional turret first introduced as a part of the ONI Strike Team pack back in 2018.
I am a big fan of this turret design as it adds a lot of playability to these sets so it was nice to see it re-included in this play-set.
Lastly are the figures in this set. The Spartan Mark VII is very similar to the one included in the UNSC Marine Platoon Pack with some minimal difference in paint applications, but the two Marines are actually unique to this set – adding to the variety of Marines throughout the Infinite line. If you are aiming to collect every variant of Marine then you may not want to miss out on these ones.
Overall, the UNSC Combat Unit doesn’t bring much in ‘new’ product to the table but it does include some fun elements which pair well together and help to really add to any display which a Mega Construx fan may be building. If you are building a UNSC MOC then this pack will definitely add a lot of value to whatever you may be creating.
