‘Vadum, better known as Half-Jaw, is a commander in the Swords of Sanghelios under former Arbiter Thel ‘Vadam. Towards the end of the Human-Covenant War, he fought as a Special Operations commander in the Fleet of Particular Justice, battling the Flood on Alpha Halo. Following the ring’s destruction, Rtas was assigned a mission alongside the Arbiter to eliminate Sesa 'Refumee, succeeding in his mission and recovering 343 Guilty Spark as well.
Half-Jaw and the Arbiter would fight alongside each other again during the Battle of Installation 05, where Rtas provided support for Thel as he attempted to retrieve Delta Halo’s activation index. It was during this time that the Prophet of Truth initiated the Changing of the Guard of the Covenant from the Sangheili to the Jiralhanae, which sparked the Great Schism. In the course of the conflict, Rtas sided with the Arbiter against the Covenant, fighting alongside the UNSC to defeat them and kill the prophets.
Following the war, Rtas was put in charge of the Shadow of Intent, using it to patrol the galaxy, while keeping it away from Sanghelios until the Swords of Sanghelios could maintain order on the planet. During this time, the Shadow of Intent crew stopped a San’shyuum Prelate and Covenant Minister of Preparation plot to use a prototype Halo to kill everyone on Sanghelios.
