POPULATION: Unknown (500 million during species reintroduction)
SPECIES: San'Shyuum
HISTORY
Janjur Qom is the original homeworld of the San’Shyuum species, and was the planet where Mendicant Bias commandeered the Anodyne Spirit and crashed it into the surface following reintroduction of the San’Shyuum to the planet. During the time of the Forerunners, the San’Shyuum allied with ancient humanity against the Forerunners, but eventually capitulated and put the final nail in the coffin for humanity’s cause. Having surrendered prior to losing the war, the Forerunners quarantined the San’Shyuum to Janjur Qom and the remaining planets in the system, rather than destroying and de-evolving them like was done to the ancient humans. The San’Shyuum eventually rebelled against the Forerunner quarantine, however, and the revolt was put down with the firing of a Senescent Halo over Janjur Qom.
Following the firing of the Neoteric Halo Array and the reintroduction of species to their home planets by the Forerunners, the San’Shyuum began to regain their technological knowledge they lost centuries prior. Due to the crashing of the Anodyne Spirit on the surface, the San’Shyuum discovered the existence of Forerunner artifacts very early on in their re-evolution. Though it was initially decided that the San’Shyuum would never touch the artifacts and simply worship them, a small group calling themselves the Reformists decided it would be better to use the Forerunner technology to their advantage, sparking the War of Wills against the majority Stoics. The battle lasted one-hundred years, ending in the Reformists stealing the Anodyne Spirit and leaving the planet in the Forerunner ship along with a large chunk of the planet. The ship and attached rock would later become High Charity.
Little is know of Janjur Qom following the War of Wills, though the Reformist San’Shyuum have made trips back to their home planet to kidnap females and increase genetic diversity of the relatively few San’Shyuum on High Charity. The San’Shyuum claim the planet was destroyed when its host star went supernova in 648 BCE, though this has not been confirmed.
