Following the loss of the CAS-class assault carrier Enduring Conviction and the success of professor Ellen Anders escaping the Ark aboard Installation 09 in April 2559, Atriox and the Banished regrouped and scoured the surface of Installation 00 for weapons and resources. They managed to find the remains of the former Covenant holy city High Charity, it having crashed onto the Ark after being overwhelmed by the Flood and severely damaged during the firing of Installation 08 in 2552.

Knowing the Flood still may exist in some form within the Sentinel-shielded wreckage, Atriox ordered two of his commanders, Voridus and Pavium to search the surrounding area, but under no circumstances enter the shielded portion. Even so, Voridus risked entering to recover weaponry, and in doing so, released the Flood from its quarantined area onto the surface of the Ark. Though quickly overwhelmed by the onslaught of Flood forms, the Banished managed to recover and pushed back the Flood until the Ark’s Sentinels could complete the cleansing of the area.
