SUMMARY
The Battle of Draetheus V was an attack by former Covenant forces under the command of Sangheili Zealot Merg Vol on the colony world of Draetheus V and its moon X50 sometime in 2554. The attack on the colony was spurred by Merg Vol's search for a Forerunner artifact on X50, which turned out to be the moon itself. While Spartan-IV Sarah Palmer and Edward Davis fought off Covenant attack and activated the colony defenses, Merg Vol managed to activate the X50 artifact, which was a Forerunner Miner facility designed to create and destroy planets, and turned it on Draetheus V. Draetheus's colonists began evacuating as the planet was being ripped apart, but Spartan Palmer managed to infiltrate Covenant forces and eliminate Merg Vol, ending the attack.
