Establishing effective communication with the Yanme'e proved to be quite the challenge, and it ignited initial hostilities between the Covenant and this enigmatic race during their first encounters.
Intriguingly, in the aftermath of the Human-Covenant War, the channels of communication with the Yanme'e dwindled, and most of their kind mysteriously vanished from the known expanse of the galaxy. It is presumed that they embarked on a journey homeward, leaving behind a trail of unanswered questions and the echoes of their enigmatic presence.
Ancient History
Certainly, allow me to elucidate the intriguing tale of the Yanme'e, the remarkable insectoid denizens hailing from the world of Palamok. From the year 1112 until its eventual decline in 2552, they stood as esteemed members of the Covenant. Prior to their Covenant affiliation, the Yanme'e primarily dwelled within hive structures under the dominion of a hive queen on their homeworld. Notably, they also managed to establish colonies on at least two of Palamok's orbiting moons.
However, destiny took an unexpected turn when the Covenant ventured into their system, driven by the fervent pursuit of Forerunner relics. In their first encounters, communication barriers erected a formidable wall, leading to confrontations between the Covenant and the Yanme'e, who perceived the interlopers as foreign invaders. The Yanme'e, boasting sheer numerical superiority, often emerged victorious in these skirmishes. It was only through the discovery of a means to communicate that the cycle of violence was quelled, ultimately leading to their inclusion among the diverse array of Covenant races.
Modern History
Within the annals of the Covenant, the Yanme’e assumed the pivotal roles of mechanics aboard warships and various other duties, occasionally serving within the esteemed drone caste of the Covenant military. During the tumultuous era of the Human-Covenant War, they dutifully fulfilled these functions and played integral roles in numerous Covenant invasions of human worlds, with a notable presence on the revered planet of Earth. It was beneath the bustling city of New Mombasa that they constructed a sprawling hive, leaving an indelible mark on Earth's history.
Following the conclusion of the war, a substantial number of Yanme’e returned to their cherished homeworld of Palamok. Nevertheless, some chose to align themselves with various post-Covenant factions, forging alliances with figures such as Tem’Bhetek, Merg Vol, and Jul ‘Mdama’s Covenant. Curiously, the Yanme’e found themselves conspicuously absent from the list of species to whom Cortana offered protection in exchange for their loyalty in the tumultuous year of 2558.

The Yanme'e boast a collection of colony worlds nestled within their native star system of Napret. Nevertheless, the most substantial portion of their populace continues to thrive upon their cherished homeworld of Palamok.
